SPIRITUAL FRUIT
The collages in this collection are made from organic materials, candy wrappers, magazine cut-outs, and acrylic paint. Colorful flowers are cut from gardening catalogues and adhered to weighty surfaces created from canvas paper layered with acrylic gesso. With red seeds and white flesh, the uncanny appearance of the pineberry serves as a visual motif in this series. Each piece is created over the span of a year, making this work a product of time, much like the supernatural attributes (spiritual fruit) in Galatians 5:22-23.
FEARFULLY & WONDERFULLY MADE
PSALM 91
BEAUTY FOR ASHES
Psalm 30:11-12
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness
that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
Beauty for Ashes is a collection of collages made from decals, glitter, and magazine paper. These “low” art materials represent the brokenness of life, which when placed in the hands of Yeshua, finds healing, restoration, and a new beginning. According to Psalm 30:11-12 and Isaiah 61:1-3, God is able to use one’s pain and sorrows and turn them into something joyous and beautiful. He delights in using what is weak, lowly, and despised in the world to exhibit His wisdom, power, and glory so that none might boast in His presence (1 Corinthians 1:26-29).
